About the retreat

Thursday 15th - Sunday 18th July 2021

This is a four day, three night retreat, over a long weekend in the beautiful town of Glastonbury, in the Somerset hills.  Surrounded by nature, history, and magic, this place has long been somewhere mystical and sppiritual.

Come and join us on a healing, restoring, renewing yoga and meditation retreat.  Connect to others in person that you've practiced with online, connect to nature, connect to the healing springs of water in Glastonbury, and the healing energies of the earth's heart chakra.

All meals are vegetarian and a large breakfast and dinner are included in the cost of the retreat.  Lunch is free time, and isn't included; allowing you to be flexible with your free time during the days of the retreats.  You may also find that breakfast provides sufficient for you to pack yourself a lunch if you're going walking.

We will practice different forms of yoga and meditation 2-3 times a day, including morning waking yoga to stretch, open and energise the body and mind; pre-dinner yoga to reflect, restore and balance the mind, body and soul; and after dinner relaxing and restorative practices to aid a good night's sleep.  All practices are included in the cost of the retreat.  All meditation and yoga will be led by Ruth and will include kundalini yoga, womb yoga, yoga nidra, visioning meditations, sound healings, sharing circles, and deep listening.

The retreat is in a large, old house in Glastonbury.  Lovingly restored and beautifully decorated, keeping traditional touches with modern essentials.  The house is owned and managed by Marie, a kind, gentle and bubbly lady who is also an excellent vegetarian cook, and will be providing us with all our food during the retreat.  The house has a large, tiered garden with fruit trees, plants and flowers, hammocks, a fire pit and relaxing chairs.  We will practice yoga and meditation in the garden, weather permitting.  The house also has two large, sunny and relaxing sitting rooms which we will practice in if the weather isn't so nice, and which you can read, chat and relax in.  Massages and reiki will also take place in the more private of these two rooms in the afternoons.  There is a light and airy conservatory dining room where we'll have the large vegetarian breakfasts and dinners and where you can help yourself to teas, coffees, juices, Glastonbury healing waters and fruits throughout the day.

There is free time after breakfast to explore what Glastonbury has to offer including walks, visiting the Chalice Gardens (£4.70), the Abbey or the town.  Or you can relax with a book in the house or garden, get a massage or reiki treatment (additional costs).

Glastonbury is set in the beautiful Somerset Levels, surrounded by hills, and low lying fields with waterways between them.  The location of the ancient Avalon, this place has been renowed for its magic and spirituality since the times of King Arthur.  Healing waters are located under the hill of the Tor, which have specific constitutions of minerals which are known to be particularly healing.  The retreat has these waters freely available for you to drink and you can also visit the springs in the Chalice Gardens, which are a place of contemplation, meditation and beauty.  The Tor is a reasonable walk from the retreat and provides stunning views over the area and expansive nature. Weather permitting we will walk here for sunset and meditation one evening.

The town itself is small and retains many of the old, traditional buildings which are now pubs, cafes and independent shops.  There are many opportunities to buy or browse spiritual, healing, mystical and historical things in the various shops.  You can also visit the Abbey and the Goddess Temple located in the town itself.

All food at the retreat is lovingly prepared for you by Marie, our retreat host.  All food is vegetarian and allergies and intolerances can be catered for.  Other diets, except for vegan, cannot be, unfortunately.  Please let us know when booking of any dietary requirements so we can factor these into the menu.  Breakfast and dinner are provided for the full retreat, and these are both large, plentiful and delicious.  Snacks, fruits and drinks are available in the dining room for you to help yourself to throughout the day.

For lunch, many different options for food are available in Glastonbury town from cafes (vegan, gluten free, sustainable, natural, greasy spoons, sandwiches & jacket potatoes, coffee shops), to pubs & gastro pubs, and restaurants (Indian, Chinese, modern British, Italian).

Glastonbury is easily reached by train (Castle Cary), flights (Bristol airport) or by car.  Transport can be arranged from Castle Cary station to the retreat, and if there are sufficient people arriving by train, a shuttle may be put on.  This can be organised nearer the time.  Please let us know if you plan to travel by train, when paying the balance (21st June) and we will organise transfers to the retreat (at cost).

If travelling by car, there is free off-road and street parking available at the retreat.  Full directions provided once the balance is received (21st June).

Travel to and from the retreat is not included in the cost of the retreat and needs to be organised personaly.

Booking & payment

All bookings are fully COVID restrictions/guidelines/rules covered.  At the moment we anticipate to be able to go ahead with the retreat as planned, according to the Government's roadmap.  However, we are aware this is subject to change.  So should the retreat need to be cancelled or postponed due to COVID restrictions, or you are unable to travel due to changes in COVID restrictions then you will be provided with a full refund.  You will also be given the option to move your booking to any new dates in the event of a postponement.  All other reasons for not being able to participate aren't covered and you should take out insurance to cover this.

Early bird booking discount of £30 per person if you book with the deposit by 30th April.  This discount will be applied to the final payment on 21st June.

To secure your booking and room of your choice, a deposit of £125 is required.  This is regardless of the total booking cost.  Deposits can be taken up to 20th June, and then the balance of the booking is required on 21st June.  This is the date that the rules are due to change to allow us to gather like this.  So you won't need to pay more than the deposit until we know the retreat is definitely going ahead.  The deposit can be paid online or by bank transfer.  If you pay online there is a booking fee of £3.13 which is added by the booking service to the cost (nothing to do with me).  If you pay by bank transfer there isn't a booking fee.  If you want to pay by paypal, please contact me as there will be additional paypal charges.
